Biology of arthropod-borne viruses
The Weger-Lucarelli group is interested in arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses) and how they transmit and produce diseases in different environments. RNA viruses are highly genetically diverse, making them rapidly adaptable to changing environments. The lab focuses on understanding how environmental, host and viral factors result in selection for new viral variants which can lead to a global outbreak.
