Gillian Eastwood

The Eastwood group is interested in vector-borne disease ecology, with a key focus on arthropod-borne viruses, ‘arboviruses’, vectored by ticks and mosquitoes.

Adopting a One Health approach (the integration of animal health, human health, and health of the environment), we conduct field- and lab-based investigations in the Eastern USA as well as Central America and Africa, to understand enzootic transmission cycles, influences on pathogen prevalence and evolution, and risk of emerging infectious diseases.
