Influence of diet and exercise on vascular health
The Craige lab studies cell signaling responses to nutrition and exercise in the vasculature. Specifically, they focus on endothelial cells which are the monolayer of cells that line the lumen of the vasculature. This specialized cell layer is responsible for rapidly reacting to changes in organ needs such as low nutrients or oxygen. The group aims to elucidate the mechanisms by which diet and exercise influence endothelial health ultimately contributing to the prevention of cardio-metabolic disease.
