Function and regulation of bacterial pili
The Yang lab focuses on the bacterial type IV pilus machinery as the most powerful biological motor, and as a target for drugs against bacterial pathogens. Their research employs tools in genetics, biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, advanced imaging, post-genomics and high throughput screening for drug discovery. Another focus of the lab is the function of CRISPR in bacterial physiology.
