Mosquito cytogenetics and genome organization
Research in the Sharakhov lab focuses on: 1) the structural and functional effects of the 3D genome organization in Drosophila and mosquitoes; and 2) a role of meiotic chromosome dynamics in male sterility of interspecies mosquito hybrids. The laboratory uses fluorescence microscopy in combination with molecular cytogenetics and genomics approaches.
