Basic biology of the causal agent of Lyme disease
The Jutras lab studies the basic biology of the spirochetal bacterium that causes Lyme disease. The lab uses cutting-edge molecular, cellular, and immunological tools to understand the fundamental basis of host-pathogen interactions, in addition to vector/host competence, Lyme arthritis, and neuroborreliosis. The work has direct translational implications to all spirochetes, including the agents of Leptospirosis, Relapsing Fever, and Syphilis.
